My Gallant Hero “Mo Ghille Mear”
My Gallant Hero “Mo Ghille Mear” – The Choral Scholars of University College Dublin (UCD) recently performed a stirring rendition of the traditional Irish song “Mo Ghille Mear” (My Gallant Hero). The song tells the story of a young man who pledges his love to a beautiful woman, and is willing to fight any opponent to win her heart.
The performance was part of the UCD Choral Scholars’ concert series, which has been themed around the music of Ireland and Scotland. The group has been performing throughout Ireland and Europe since its formation in 1978, and has amassed an impressive discography in that time.
The UCD Choral Scholars are comprised of both undergraduate and graduate students at the university, and they are all highly dedicated and talented vocalists. In addition to their regular performances, the group also engages in outreach work with local schools and community groups.
