St Patrick’s Day Flashmob in Sydney by Tourism Ireland – The Awesome Irish Dancing flashmob, featuring members of Riverdance and school children, took over Central Station in Sydney on St Patrick’s Day.
Over 100 dancers filled the station with energy and excitement, spreading St Patrick’s Day cheer to all who witnessed the performance.
The event was organised and coordinated by Tourism Ireland and the Sneaky Steppers crew, led by Jason Oremus and Chris Naish.
It was a truly spectacular sight that is sure to be remembered by all who were lucky enough to experience it. Thank you, Tourism Ireland, for bringing the spirit of St Patrick’s Day to Sydney!

Irish Dancing originated in Ireland and encompasses group and solo dancing. Irish Dancing can be done for social The theatrical show, Riverdance, really made Irish Dancing famous worldwide. It originated as an interval performance act during the 1994 Eurovision Song Contest, featuring Irish dancing champions Jean Butler, Michael Flatley and the vocal ensemble Anúna. Riverdance made it’s debut on stage in the Irish capital, Dublin on February 9, 1995, in the presence of Ireland’s president, Mary Robinson.
